Christian Lo Russo
Founder and Director of The Artist Studio, Christian Lo Russo, has a lifelong connection with music and an impressive and varied history of success in the Australian music scene.
In 2020, Christian launched Arcadia Music Company which comprises Arcadia Music Management, Arcadia Records (a joint venture record label with Sony Music Entertainment Australia) and Arcadia Publishing (a joint venture music publishing company with Warner Chappell Music US). Among other up and coming Australian artists, Christian has been developing and managing 19-year-old singer-songwriter MAY-A since she walked through the doors of The Artist Studio in 2015. MAY-A is joined at Arcadia Music Management by ROYBOY, ioakim and Robby De Sa, while Arcadia Records and Arcadia Publishing will begin signing artists in 2021.
While Christian is now keenly focussed on songwriting and artist development, his career in the music industry began in 2006 as lead vocalist, keyboardist, and one of the principal songwriters for Australian indie rock band Amy Meredith. The band enjoyed national success, signing with Sony Records and Sony ATV Publishing, earning ARIA nominations and platinum status with their second single ‘Lying’, and playing Big Day Out and sold-out headline shows Australia-wide, as well as touring with various international acts.
In 2012, Christian dedicated his time to working with the now internationally-acclaimed pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS), helping to develop their sound and skills, and co-writing the songs ‘Unpredictable’ and ‘Beside You’, which respectively feature on the band’s EP ‘Somewhere New’ and self-titled debut album. Contributing to the early development of 5SOS sparked Christian’s interest in providing professional mentorship, a connection to industry, and guidance for artists embarking on their musical careers.
Some of Christian’s other acclaimed co-writes include ‘The Best Part’ with Taylor Henderson (X Factor) from his 2014 release ‘Burnt Letters', which reached #1 on the ARIA charts and is certified gold. Christian also co-wrote Dami Im’s (X Factor) ‘Heart So Dry’ and ‘Speak Up’ from her 2014 release ‘Heart Beats’, which reached top ten on the ARIA charts and top 50 on the South Korean charts.
Christian has worked with other notable artists and writers including Sarah Aarons, Alex Hope, MAY-A, CXLOE, Kita Alexander, Jessica Mauboy, Jarryd James, Sam Hollander, John Feldmann, Illy, and Delta Goodrem.
Christian’s passion for music began at a young age in a house full of instruments and the sounds of his bassist father and his mother blasting the Beatles' Red and Blue compilation albums all day long. Despite Christian's many years of success in the Australian music industry, he still insists that one of his greatest achievements is a song titled '100 Metres Away', an endearing pop ballad about a girl he saw at a mall talent show which he wrote and recorded at just 6 years old - a fitting genesis of Christian's ethos that it is never to early to start honing your artistry.
